After updating to windows 10 (auto update from windows - online) the validity fingerprint sensor (vfs451) just stopped working. when trying to uninstall vfs driver using device manager, the biometric will dissapear from the device list.. I then selected the driver called "validity sensor (vfs495)". this is still the standard microsoft driver, but for the vfs495 scanner. i then had to install hp protecttools security manager (for windows 8.1).. @assassinezio . you can use the valdity sensor for your system that is rated for windows 8 and windows 8.1 . hp envy m6-1216tx notebook pc . driver: sp58869 validity sensor driver v4.4.234.0 w8-w8.1/64bit.
When i originally bought the notebook (right when windows 10 was released) i had the same problem until hp released the windows 10 drivers for my laptop (delivered via hp support assistant). this time around it does not work even though i have the latest drivers.. To make sure the windows device driver for the fingerprint reader is up-to-date; follow the steps in updating the device driver. clean the fingerprint reader you should periodically clean the fingerprint reader sensor to remove dirt and oil.. Hp recommends windows hello as the access manager software for the fingerprint reader feature. see setting up windows hello in managing user accounts and logins (windows 10) . the access manager software is designed to work on specific models and operating systems..
