Initially optical drives were used for many purposes. The important uses among those were to install software, burn data, watch DVDs and to run emergency discs. But do you ‘really’ think that all these purposes are carried by optical drives today? For instance software installment happens very rarely and all those are present online. Burning data is not a necessity with USB drives hanging in every collar. Watching DVD on a laptop leads to extra battery consumption and it is advisable to watch it after storing the movie/contents in an USB drive. Now, rational thoughts will make us decide why to have this costing and weighing matter with no use. Instead of blaming companies, let us think twice again.
